My students come from an urban public school district. Many of them are English language learners, relatively new to this country. Many of them come from low economic families. They struggle with both math and language arts. Because of family responsibilities there isn't a lot of time at home to practice basic skills, and many of them just aren't motivated because language is so difficult.
