My students enjoy outdoor hands-on learning experiences. Since a lot of our students are from the urban part of the city, several of them don't have a lot of exposure to wildlife or nature. The field guides will give students an opportunity to learn about local wildlife and native plants. I feel it's important that we make personal connections between our class's learning experiences and our student's lives. The field guides will make our lessons in wildlife and ecology more relevant and provide a chance apply their knowledge to their neighborhood and community.
