My music students support and encourage each other. They are kind, funny, and love to learn. Although they have all experienced much personal hardship, as musicians they are able to express themselves freely, to turn their pains and triumphs into works of art that other people can connect with and find meaning in. In my class, every musician has a chance to find their strengths. Different options for my students include playing instruments, singing, composing and producing their own songs, and building and designing real musical instruments. Many of my students work hard to overcome their fears and are able to successfully participate in live performances in front of their peers and faculty.
