Kasuun Elementary is nestled in the foothills of the Chugach Mountains. The name Kasuun comes from an Athabascan word, meaning beautiful place. Kasuun Elementary represents this Athabascan word with both the stunning mountain views and the students of our school. Since the school opened, the population of our school has steadily declined to the current number of 448. We have found our demographics have also greatly changed, with 47.5% of the students on free or reduced lunch and a number of students in transitional living situations. Minority enrollment is 54% of the student body (majority American Indian and Asian), which is more than the state average of 51%. We are proud of the care and opportunities we give our students including: running club, chess club, cooking club, movie nights, choir and much more. We find students needs and serve.
