Headphones are an essential part of my class. Students have texts or directions that they need read aloud. Edmentum has features such as videos that show students new ways to understand a skill they are struggling with. The program is also able to read directions and texts aloud to students who are auditory learners. The headphones are also used as a focus tool. Students at the computers are easily distracted by my small group lesson when their headphones are malfunctioning or not working. They are unable to focus on their own lesson and often forget what their task is, causing a delay in their learning.
