I teach 5th grade in a poverty-stricken district. My school is located in the most dangerous neighborhood in our city. Most of my students are performing well below grade-level. It is my goal to give these children a safe and inviting environment where they can escape the challenges of their lives at home. I want to give them every opportunity I can to be successful in school and take ownership of their learning so that they can break the cycle of poverty. I want to show them that with an education, they can go anywhere and be anything they choose.

About my class
