We need paper, paints, and markers to give my students flexibility when creating their final projects at the end of the unit. I already have cardboard boxes in all shapes and sizes. Having these materials will give students choices. They can build dioramas, they can make a pamphlet, they can cut and tape cardboard to sculpture. or paint a picture to show their learning. These materials will allow students to get in to "maker" mode and get the creative juices flowing! Giving students a choice gives them a chance to play to their strengths. It will allow them to "show what they know" in a manner of their choosing. When students are given choice, they get excited!
