I have a variety of students in my classroom. Students who live in the area range from the very well off to the seriously impoverished. There is a huge gap between those who have been gifted opportunities within their own families and those who have been given little to no support at home be it financial or otherwise. What I find most interesting about this is that it would be difficult to know that by looking at my classroom. It's important to me that my students understand that "stuff" can happen to anyone and that it's most important to love and respect people for being human. It's great to see my students come together to create a positive environment of support for each other. Whats even cooler is that I see this comradery continue outside my classroom doors too!
