Basic math skills are crucial to help students succeed in school as well as outside of school. Two areas which I find are difficult for students are the concept of money and the ability to use tools to help them complete basic math subjects. Helping my students to understand number sense and helping them to develop an understanding of money is a very important part of my job. I would like my students to understand the basics of money so that they can feel safe and secure that they are able to independently shop knowing that they are able to buy what they need and knowing the amount of money each thing costs.
