As a first-year teacher, I am building a classroom library from the ground up. Having a class with various learning needs, I hope to build a diverse classroom library that is reflective of my students’ learning abilities and interests. With a lack of access to books in their communities, my students always look forward to reading in the classroom and often choose to spend their free time engaging in independent reading. This library will help us do research, explore new topics, or even just unwind with an interesting book after working hard all day. I want to ensure that my students have the necessary literacy resources to receive an equitable education that meets each of their unique learning needs. While my students continue to grow academically each day, our school and families are limited by the resources available to help them further grow. By donating to this project, you will be helping my students strengthen their love of literature by providing them with literacy materials adapted to their specific learning needs as well as providing them with learning experiences that they will use to grow as lifelong learners.
