As the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math programs (STEAM) become integrated into our curriculum, students need access to digital tools and software applications that will provide authentic, real-world practices. iPads are tools that provide students with access to student-driven STEAM applications and instructional activities that engage them in the NGSS Science and Engineering Processes. My students will utilize the iPads to engage in scientific investigations that provide opportunities to use probeware to collect and analyze data, thus being able to make scientific claims and provide evidence for those claims. My students will also utilize these iPads to participate in the computer programming of robotic devices. Programming skills not only help students develop critical thinking, but they are also 21st century skills that will be necessary as they become adults and enter the workforce. Besides, scientific investigations and computer programming are just pretty cool, too!
