Our Title 1 public school is in 93905, a zip code known for high levels of poverty, gang violence and English Language Learners. My third graders face many challenges at home and in their community. Most of their families work long hours doing hard labor and are unable to provide academic support.. I love my kids who are so eager to learn about the world around them. My goal is to launch them successfully into the 21st century with literacy in English, Math, Science and Technology. Some of the special projects I commit to annually include: Pen Pals and an in-person cultural exchange with Matsiko World Orphans Choir, an art contest we've won for 3 years based on quotes from civil rights leaders, and a field trip to the aquarium, local college and planetarium.
