The wooden playhouse will be used in our class calm down center. The children in my class often need to go to this center to get their strong emotions in check. The playhouse will give them a place to safely tuck into to read a book, practice some calm down breathing, or play with some fidget toys until they are ready to rejoin their peers with a calm body. Research indicates that children who are mentally healthy tend to be happier, show greater motivation to learn, have a more positive attitude toward school, more eagerly participate in class activities, and demonstrate higher academic performance than less mentally healthy peers.

About my class
