Every student wants an instrument in their hands. As the music teacher I have the privilege of having every student in the school in my classroom. Most of my classes consist of 35 to 42 students at a time, which means, we need a lot of instruments. Since the music program is new to Monte Vista Elementary, it is my goal to gather the resources to make their musical learning the best it can be. The moment a child has an instrument in their hands, they are instantly engaged. Using the Latin guiro to add spice to a song, a flashlight to paint the form of the music, or a book coming to life accompanied by instruments, students are contributing as a team to learn and create something together. In the limited time I get to see each student in the school, I do not want to ever have them just watch and learn what we are doing because I don't have enough resources. I want every child to be engaged and participating and learning. I just need you to put those precious items in their hands.
