UNICEF is an organization that fundraises money in over 100 countries to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. UNICEF began the kid power up program that allows students to use these UNICEF FitBits to exercise and gain movement points. UNICEF then converts the points into funding that is sent in multiple forms to these children in need.
The FitBits will be used during Physical Education class to help motivate children during class and educate them on how and why it is important to maintain a physically active life style. The FitBits will help educate students on the multiple components of fitness and get a hands on visual to how exercise affects the human body. This device will help motivate and can work as an incentive for students in physical education.
Students will have the ability to track their steps and movement throughout the class. This information will automatically send directly to their personally Kid Power Up account allowing them to track their activity. Students and teachers can become creative with challenging classmates to different workouts and setting goals to work on as a team, which again all data is saved and can be accesses. Students are not only benefitting themselves using these FitBits, but are also creating a large impact on other children's lives worldwide.
