In a Makerspace students get the chance to learn on their own terms. They become innovators, creators, thinkers, engineers, inventors, explorers, etc. Students have to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and create plans for what they want to do. Then they have to make products and test them. After testing their products they must reflect on the process. Makerspaces help students gain valuable skills that will help them in the real world. Some skills include being able to problem solve, think critically, collaborate, and persevere. These are all skills that are needed for the workplace. My goal is to have the students create projects that will also benefit our community as a whole! In this project the students will be creating a LEGO wall to showcase their LEGO creations. They also will be able to program an Ollie (a robot), use a Makey-Makey (an invention kit that can turn everyday objects into touch pads), create a bridge out of the Engino Discovering STEM kit, and design a marble run race!
