My students are curious about everything! For example, we have set up a Wonder Board in our classroom where students post questions, ideas, and thoughts they are curious about. These "wonderings" often result in creative mini-research projects that they create then present to the class. These kids also love to write. They write everything from narratives and poetry, to news articles and plays. Recently we built a shadow puppet theater so they could perform the plays they wrote. We invited a first grade class to watch the performance. After the performance, the first grade class created a book for us that included pictures and writing about what they saw and liked. This is only one example of the creativity that oozes from these students. Finally, our teachers are constantly sharing ideas and collaborating. We frequently look for occasions for our students to connect and share across grade levels. This creates an interactive and caring school community.
