I would like to be able to add portable laptop stands to my classroom so that students do not have to sit all day! Research shows that sitting for too long day after day can have negative effects on both physical and mental health. Students work hard all day at school, and they should be able to take a break from sitting! While that sounds like an easy problem to fix, standing and trying to type on a laptop at a normal sized desk is quite a challenge for middle school students. I believe that students work better and stay focused longer when they are able to move around and have options of where they sit, or in this case, stand. Students don't always have a choice about the work they do at school, but they should have a choice on whether they sit or stand to work!
