Each determined and energetic 6th grader in my reading class is, perhaps for the first time, devoted to becoming the best reader he/she can be! For students who struggle to read, this is often not the case. However, my self-aware 6th graders recognize that the ability to read is vital. None of them want to sacrifice their hopes and dreams because their academic experiences have been different than some of their peers.
