My students are kindergarteners, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who live in the Mississippi Delta, birthplace of B.B. King, Robert Johnson, and the greatest of American musical traditions: the Blues. They attend elementary school in one of the poorest and most oft forgotten corners of our nation, that, while poor in pocket, is rich in musical history and tradition.
