My students are amazing individuals that enjoy learning from one another during our time at the rug together every day! At the rug, not only are they learning math, writing, and reading but they are building a community of learners together. It can be hard for my Second Grade students to remain focused during activities at the rug as they are constantly trying to find "their correct spot". I believe it helps them in their learning when we can sit in a "special spot" on the floor, reading and learning together with fewer distractions. The rug in our classroom is small and old, and I want my students to feel comfortable about where they are sitting so they can pay attention to their lessons.
