I am a 6th grade ELA teacher in a very under privileged neighborhood. My students have so many problems to over come, problems I never even knew existed before. For them to even come to school is a challenge. These students come from broken homes, usually with only one parent, while the other parent has either passed away or is in jail. Walking to school is dangerous with drug dealers on the street. Yet these students find a way to come to school everyday. I am trying to give them the best education and give them every opportunity to succeed. This is very hard to do with inadequate supplies we are given. They deserve the same chance as everyone else to get a proper education.
