The middle school my students attend is a public, inner- city school which has shown incredible success in ensuring that all students achieve. We are a very diverse school, with over 28 languages spoken, a large population on free/reduced school lunch, and a dedicated staff and administration. I have several students on individualized education programs due to learning disabilities or other educational challenges, and an even larger percentage of each class is comprised of new English language learners. The diversity creates an incredible group of learners, all teamed together in classes where they are responsible for getting each other "to the top of the mountain". I am excited to engage them in showing their learning, providing opportunities during which all of them can "play" equally and become excited about sharing their science thinking.
