Our school has a strict no cellphone policy, so even if my middle school students do own a cellphone, they cannot use them to complete research, online grammar assignments, or even type up their writing. Because of this policy, I have to reserve a set of iPads from the school. This sounds like an easy solution; however, these iPads are shared with the other 1,000 students in my school, so reserving them is difficult. As mentioned before, my school is one of the many Title I schools in our country. I frequently see how the effects of living in a low socio-economic area influence my students' mindset. They are used to being seen as "less than" by the world, and they are, unfortunately, used to having less than most of the world. As an educator, I wish to show them how their efforts can make a difference in our world.
