My classroom will consist of all male students. My new group of young men are struggling readers and writers, have emotional and behavioral struggles, some have been retained multiple times. The materials on our wish list would provide an atmosphere that is unlike any other room in our school. My students will be challenged on both and emotional level as well as academically. The flexible seating (pillows, comfy couches, and wobble chairs) will provide opportunities to learn in a less restrictive environment than traditional classrooms. The recorders will allow all of the boys to participate in the school wide recorder program that has taken flight at M. Elementary. As a former music teacher I believe that music is just as important as the 4 W's.
