This will be my first year teaching 6th grade Art at GMS. I'm excited to work with these students, but am preparing the best I can teach amidst a pandemic. I'm hoping to be able to purchase art supplies for these students, so they won't have to share in class and also to prepare in the case we return back to remote learning. Each student will get their own set of art supplies that will include: watercolor sets, paper and plastic weaving needles.
Having materials for every student to take home if we go back to remote learning is essential.
I will have each student build a box that will hold their materials. I will give each student a choice of different studio explorations and include those materials in the box. Due to COVID-19 and the problem of sharing a small set of tools and equipment in a classroom, I have had to change up the choices for them and give them materials they will not share. I am making mini kits for weaving, charcoal, book arts, paper mache, drawing and more. However, my budget comes up short in my need to provide everyone with a set of watercolors.
