Our school is a K-8 public charter school that focuses on inquiry learning. At CFCI, we loop, meaning that we have our students for two grades. I start a year with kindergarteners and teach those same students the following year for first grade. My students are naturally inquisitive. I teach my students to ask "deep"questions about the world around them and about topics they are interested in. I then assist them in researching the answers to those questions using books and technology. Students publish their projects and show off their learning by having "Inquiry Museum Days" for parents and other classes in the school. Our school technology budget does not allow us to purchase new computers for classrooms. This lack of functional technology inhibits students' success with research and inquiry learning. With touch-screen laptops, students will be able to successfully work on individual projects as well as class projects.
