A new carpet in my classroom would give the children in my class a place to gather and move around and learn through developmentally appropriate activities. The carpet has dots for each child to sit when they need to have their own space. We spend a lot of time on the carpet in small groups or with a partner. It is during those times that we create relationships and figure out how to solve problems with one another. The past 33 years I have provided a carpet in my classroom at my own expense. Many of those years I had to use hand me down carpets that would get caught in the vacuum or didn't last long. With your help, the children in my class will be able to have a place of their own that is new, clean, and will hold up to the wear and tear. They won't have to sit on a hard floor as they learn.
