As a elementary school art teacher, and a published children's book author, connecting literacy, creativity, communication and collaboration are some of the foundations I believe necessary to boost the confidence in many of the students I teach. As a resource teacher, sometimes students are not able to reach their full potential i a traditional classroom setting. The art classroom strives to fill in the gap for those students who may struggle academically. In the art room, their creativity is able to bloom, along with their self confidence. The buddy book bags that I am requesting will allow me to store the books from my classroom library. My early finishers will be allowed to get a bag and sit and read quietly. The write and wipe mats will allow my students to focus on geometric shapes and lines. Occasionally, my students are allowed to have free choice and these mats and markers will allow them to draw whatever they choose. Lastly, the kinetic sand will be used for those who require a more sensory experience during their free art classroom time. To my future donors, art is important to the whole child. My goal is to reach and teach the whole child through the generous giving of the DonorsChoose.org Community.
