'Born A Crime' by Trevor Noah is a high-interest, relevant piece that my students will be able to relate to. They will learn about overcoming adversity, struggle and strength, compassion and empathy. All the while, they will learn about the history of South America. The book will be taught in their English class, while at the same time, they the learn about South Africa and apartheid in their History class. Many of the lessons will be co-taught as a way to blend together their work in both classes. Students will benefit not only from the actual book, but from collaboration.
