My students live right by the beach in San Diego County - they have it good, right? Wrong! Unfortunately, these second language learners are living in an area where the path leads to gang life - many of the students have a family member or friend in jail or dead due to gang activity. They live in an area where street corner shootings are a way of life, and it's not unusual to be a witness. For my students, elementary school is a safe place they look forward to going each day. Here, they are challenged with learning the new Common Core in addition to the English language. These students need your donations to help them be the best versions of themselves and break the pattern of gang living!
