We are a low income, high poverty school with 97% free and reduced lunch, located in Louisiana and committed to staying college bound. My students are the grade one ESL classroom. These students are beginning and learning on many different levels and truly need books that fit their individual needs. Most of my students do not have books at home so their experiences in the classroom are invaluable. The majority of the students in the classroom are below level and receive minimal family support at home. We have recently begun feeding our students in the classroom just to ensure they each get a good meal to start they day. Despite any struggles they have outside of school, they each come to school bright eyed and ready to learn all they can. Unfortunately, we lost many of our books to water damage from Hurricane Issac. Please help us embrace this opportunity to nurture their love of books so their hearts and minds will
