We are the first high school in the district to have a mindfulness program, and have dedicated mindfulness room. Students self-select to come to the mindfulness room if they are having stressors such as anger, peer pressure, self-loathing, urges to fight, relationship stressors, pressures to use drugs, urges to participate in criminal activity or performance anxiety. I am introducing numerous mindfulness practices to the students, including aromatherapy, so that they can improve executive function and self regulation. The donations for the project will introduce aromatherapy as a mindful coping mechanism to ease stress, drowsiness, inability to concentrate, and anger. Thus, creating more productive citizens of the world, through wellness and mindfulness.
