A native Texan who was born in Houston, I never expected to become a teacher. 10 years later and I am still here continuing this journey working for the community I reside in. Teaching has taught me a lot about my students and a lot about myself. Currently, I am a third-grade bilingual teacher who teaches Math, Science and Social Studies to 2 homerooms. Although my students are each their own unique self, they do have cultural similarities that even I can relate to. My student’s parents are mainly Spanish speaking and any communication that I send home is in both languages. Students in my classroom participate in programs which provide take-home meals. This ensures they have continuous access to nutritious food while away from school. Some of my students are immigrants and their Spanish also needs some adjusting. My students depend on the resources we provide for them. Your support means a lot to me.
