We began a school garden this year, planting indoors and three raised beds outside on the west side of the school. Our students harvested lettuce, swiss chard and radishes in the fall. This spring we are planting more vegetables outside including carrots and tomatoes. The summer harvest will go to a teacher that follows the bookmobile and meets with our students. We want to develop a certified butterfly way station, giving monarchs a place to grow and thrive. One requirement is a water source. Any help building this is greatly appreciated. We need to plant plenty of milkweed for the monarchs.
