I am lucky enough to spend my day with 25 energetic fifth graders. Each morning we start our day with a morning meeting. The students greet each other, share something about themselves, and then we do an activity together. We use this time to bond and discuss our classroom. We also spend a large amount of time reading. I have challenged my students to read 40 books this year from a variety of genres. I am so impressed by what they have done so far. They are going through books like crazy. Studies show that reading is the best way to improve across all subjects. For this reason, I put a large priority on reading. My class has a large population of military families. These men and women are serving our country and their families deserve the best eduaction that we have to offer.
