I teach six classes of freshmen English in one of the most culturally and economically diverse schools in the country. The amount of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch far exceeds the minimum of 50% to qualify it as a Title I school. Because of the low socio economic status common at my school, many of my students do not have access to the kind of technology that has become commonplace in our lives but also with which students are expected to be proficient. Unfortunately, despite the aforementioned expectations, our school lacks the funding to provide my students with ample opportunity to fully utilize what is available to them as our classroom lacks even a single student computer.
