SLCSE is a free charter school sponsored by our school district with 180 students in grades 6-8 and 170 students in grades 9-12. The school opened in fall of 2008 and will graduate its first senior class in spring of 2013. SLCSE is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission (an accreditation division of AdvancED). Admission is non-discriminatory and open to all Utah residents. The demographics of the school mirror that of the school district. The socioeconomic diversity in our student body brings both opportunities and challenges. Our diversity has pushed us to build an inclusive school where differences are not only openly discussed, but celebrated. We have been largely successful at creating a very integrated community. At the same time, our challenge is that some of the students have been very successful throughout their school careers and others have experienced a variety of struggles.
