I want to incorporate history into our reading curriculum. Since almost half of my students are African American, they need to know the history of civil rights and how racially divided sections of the south fought for equal rights. I am requesting take-home copies of FREEDOM WALKERS: THE STORY OF THE MONTGOMERY BUS BOYCOTT for students who cannot afford copies of their own. Students who read at home score substantially higher on standardized tests. Many of my students don't even have any books at home, so they are at a disadvantage. I want to give them an advantage. Thank you!
