Brownsville is an area with a low socioeconomic status. However, where it is not rich in the monetary sense, it is rich community. While parents often cannot provide finically, they truly do show up for their children. I work in a public a school that does not have the money to provide teachers and students with supplies for our classroom. Parents were sent a supply list over the summer to bring in when students began school. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive the majority of items on those lists. I feel that in order for me to create a successful learning environment we have to have the necessary tools for success, and we do not currently have even the most basic items. I'm asking for things such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue, pens, and folders so we can begin our units of study for the year. I have also requested poster paper so that I can prepare charts for our lessons. With your help we can provide these children from Brownsville the opportunity to become the successful learners they were born to be!
