I teach AIG Students. They are bright, inquisitive, and are learning to work through challenges. We are in a rural community, and the majority of my students have access to technology at home. Technology is very engaging for them because it's what they know. While they can use technology to do research and participate in blogs and other activities at home, I do not assign these things for homework because AIG is not supposed to be "more work" for students, it's supposed to be "different work." I also like to see what students can do on their own, so working on projects in class is more beneficial and allows me to assess their abilities more efficiently. We are not a Title I school so funding is limited. Our PTO works hard to provide technology, but with over 650 students, classroom teachers have first access to the computers, which leaves limited access to technology for a pullout program. I serve 8-14 students at a time, so 4-5 laptops would allow them to work in groups with technology.
