Nearly 50 percent of the students at our school are second language learners. Research shows that once new language learners master a second language, they will do as well or better than their English-speaking peers. This motivates our second-language students. Our school embraces and celebrates the diversity and cultural heritage of all students. They come to school eager to learn, and their parents place tremendous value on their education. These families work hard and still struggle to make ends meet. Our school works to ease the stress children feel by creating a vibrant learning community. We do this by creating special family events from fiestas to parent seminars. We encourage parents to join us. We teach scholars to read, think, speak, explore and learn. We teach hope, and we encourage them to fill their futures with opportunities for work and college.
