My first grade students demonstrated a need for different seating options in our classroom. My students voiced a desire to have choice over where they sat in our room. Last year, many found that they were better able to work in their own space on the floor better than their desk. Students then decided they would learn even better if there were different seating options for them such as stools, bean bags, and comfortable pillows. They also decided they would love a table that they could collaborate together for projects. I would like to give my students the opportunity to have seating options that they feel comfortable in. This will allow for greater student engagement and increased movement that helps them with focus and engagement. My students have shown that they work better when given choice over their learning space. Your donation will allow a student to wiggle while they write, get comfortable when they enjoy a book, and work together on a challenging math problem at the round table. This grant will help meet the needs of all learners in my classroom for years to come.
