The materials will be used to meet the individual needs, for effective work space, for each student. Students will be allowed to choose a work space that works best for them and allows them to do their best thinking and produce their best work. Giving students options increases achievement. I want to make students feel empowered to make choices and guide them to make choices that are good for them. I want our classroom to be a space that students feel safe in and are free to make mistakes. Students sit and work for long stretches of time throughout their day. Giving them various seating options can increase focus and give them control over their learning. These seating options will limit the amount of time my students spend sitting at a traditional desk. The balance balls will help increase student focus and allow for higher achievement. The yoga mats will be another seating option that students can choose from to make their learning experience the best it can be, using a yoga mat also allows students a defined space to work in so they are not invading the personal space of others and others are not invading their personal space.
