Many of my students need extra help in staying focused and need an environment that will be able to support them. I want to start the school year off right, by providing a motivating and accommodating environment for them. Having flexible seating such as bouncy bands for desks and a standing desk helps keep students focused on the challenging work we are doing while being in the most productive setting for them. To help keep them on task I am also asking for fidget toys and a class timer. The additional supplies, such as colored pencils, markers, and clicker will be going towards stocking the classroom for upcoming class projects and presentations. These resources help my students achieve our goal of every student increasing their math and science assessment scores. Students will have greater access and understanding of the content they are learning when they are able to focus in a more inclusive environment. These resources allow my students to perform at a higher level and become more engaged in the lesson. Research also shows that with flexible seating students become more invested in their learning and their achievement. It also creates a more comfortable setting for students which makes it easier for students to share their ideas.
