These materials will give my students a sense of peace and comfort in my classroom, even when the world outside is chaotic. With our school doing blended and virtual learning, I would love to provide students with earbuds, so they can adequately complete their At-Home assignments on the days they are not at school. Mechanical pencils will help because students won't have to get up to go to the pencil sharpener or have someone sharpen their pencil, causing germs to spread. Not only that, our dress code looks a little different this year, and the neck gaiters will provide me with different masks to wear, so I won't have to wash mine every day. Will these materials raise test scores? Probably not, but that's not their purpose. The purpose of these materials is for me to extend a hand to my students and say, "I care about you." Whether it's their physical health in making sure they get a snack or their mental health, I want my new students to feel safe and secure in my classroom because I was able to give them something that they could call their own. We are also required to clean our classroom every hour to hopefully make sure our students won't get sick, so I want to stock up on cleaning supplies to help make that happen.
