In August, 95% of my class could identify 0/26 letters. Today in January, 90% of my class can read simple text! Research and has shown and we all know is critical reading is for children. TIME magazine for kids& Scholastic Science magazine will give my students access to age-appropriate stories and news about the world around them. This introduction to journalism will be a great tool to connect to our writing. These kid friendly texts expose my babies to fundamental reading skills like concepts of print, sight words, and phonics. They will also introduce many new vocabulary words, which will support multiple IEP goals for students. Lastly, this project will allow kids to stay interested &enjoy reading with exciting new topics! This will be a multifunctional resource which the kids will love taking home to share when we get our new one!
