My students, coming from various backgrounds, and at times unsuccessful student-careers at other schools, need an outlet to be physically active. Staying active, and having fun while doing so, creates a love for learning physical activities for a lifetime. My students love to jump rope during the lessons as well as during recess. I learned while teaching PE virtually that most don't have any, or very little equipment at home. Being able to send a jump rope home with every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader will be amazing. Jumping rope is an activity anyone can do at any level. Students learn that practice "makes perfect". Jumping rope doesn't need a lot of space or a lot of time to see quick results. At school we also work on routines, coming up with creative ways to jump and turn, support each other, and are in the process of starting a jump rope club.
