We are a Title 1 school with a large Hispanic population and many urban poor and refugees. Many of my students don't speak English when they first arrive in my classroom, but music class is one place they don't feel encumbered by language barriers. All children love to play and sing and make noise, and my students are no exception, especially when they get to play with their friends. In total, I have 900 students every year to serve in large classes with up to 55 students at a time.
