My students attend a Title I charter school in Houston, Texas where nearly 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite many hardships, my students are college bound, eager to learn, and always do their best. Many of our students, teachers, and staff lost many things during Hurricane Harvey. We've lost students from our school because they were displaced. Months later we are still recovering from the devastation of the hurricane. Although our community has experienced so much devastation as a result of Hurricane Harvey, our students have a determination to succeed and are committed to going to college! My students are ethnically and culturally diverse. I strive to provide a positive classroom environment, provide opportunities for choice and try to meet the needs of all learners by creating an optimal learning environment for all students.
